Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

All our roles are part time requiring only a few hours each week and work can be fitted around your schedule. You will also receive full training and support to enable you to complete the role to the best of your ability.

COMMUNITY EVENTS TEAM MEMBER

The Community Events Team organise and run a variety of events such as seasonal one-off events, regular supermarket collections, fundraising events and awareness events. They are looking for a number of volunteers to help support these activities both in their organisation and on the day.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

We are looking for someone with design experience to help with the creation of a range of materials to support our foodbank activities, such as fundraising and events materials, and social media and website content, helping to engage the local community and increase awareness of the work we do.

PHOTOGRAPHER

We are looking with someone with photography experience to capture images at foodbank events and activities, to support the work of the wider Communications Team, in helping to raise our profile and awareness of the work we do. Access to your own photography and editing equipment is required.

PRESS OFFICER

We are looking for someone to deliver accurate and effective communications for Newquay Foodbank, promoting awareness and generating food and financial donations. The role will be responsible for liaising with local press and assisting with a range of duties such as press releases, photocalls, launches and liaising with journalists.

SESSION LEAD

We are seeking Session Leads for Tuesdays (St Columb Minor), Thursdays (St Michaels), Saturdays (St Columb Major). The Session Lead ensures that volunteers are supported and understand their roles and that clients get the support they need both by the receipt of a foodbank parcel and the signposting on to further support as required. Your support will make a real impact within the community, ensuring families and individuals who are facing the very real issue of food poverty are not alone and receive the help they need.

RECRUITMENT OFFICER

We are looking for someone to support in the Recruitment process, from paperwork and reference collation, plus interview and liaising with site managers to arrange and set-up taster sessions accordingly. This is a busy and key role for the Foodbank and this person needs to be highly organised with great computer skills.

SAFEGUARDING LEAD

This is a vital role that involves ensuring Safeguarding is effectively dealt with at the foodbank both from a day-to-day perspective to ensure safeguarding compliance, including training and support for volunteers. Previous experience with Safeguarding is essential.

HEALTH AND SAFETY LEAD

This role involves supporting the food bank to provide a safe place for staff, volunteers and people who use the food bank.
You’ll be familiar with health and safety procedures and be able to give advice and assistance to the volunteers and employees to enable them to meet their obligations and statutory duties for health and safety.
To work with the Newquay Foodbank Operations Manager to implement and oversee health and safety processes and make sure policies and procedures are being properly implemented.

COLLECTORS

The Collections team and looking for a number of volunteers to join the team. The team are responsible for collecting food  donations from regular collection points such as supermarkets, schools and churches around the local area, adhoc food collections from locations such as schools & hotels and delivering food to the warehouse or sites as directed.

VAN DRIVER

Van drivers play a fundamental role in the running of the food bank, collecting food donations from collection points such as supermarkets, schools and churches around the local area, distributing food donations to the warehouse and transporting sorted food from the warehouse to the local food bank centres.
