We are looking for a highly motivated Fundraising and Communications Manager .
With a passion for social justice and supporting people in our community you will lead volunteer teams for fundraising and communications. With proven track record in fundraising you will provide visible practical support to a team of volunteers and be responsible for the implementation of a fundraising strategy.
Complementing this role will be your skill in developing compelling communications to a wide audience improving our visibility locally , and increasing public support for our mission.  With at least 2 years of experience in managing projects of this nature in fast paced environment ,we invite you in the first instance to send your CV and a covering email explaining why you think you are suited to the role to : [email protected].

Newquay Foodbank was established in 2011 as a volunteer-led, emergency food distribution charity tackling food insecurity in our community. Today, it is a vital community asset, providing support and early interventions for local people at risk of, or living with the effects of crisis and poverty. For many who come to the Food bank it can provide an important social connection and we aim to provide support without prejudice, fairly and with humanity.

 

The Fundraising and Communications Manager will provide practical, visible leadership and co-ordination of a volunteer workforce, proactively creating and growing our fundraising income and improving and delivering communications to all audiences. You will be at the heart of our community bringing our cause to life , building relationships to achieve and succeed annual income and communications targets and KPI’s. Based at our office in Newquay this role will involve some travel in the local area .

 

Specific responsibilities Fundraising

· Create and craft compelling funding proposals that successfully engage and attract donations build lasting donor relationships, increasing our current levels by at least 25% in the next two years

· Identify and prioritise a pool of potential grant giving trusts and foundations funders submitting timely and winning funding applications.

· Manage ongoing relationships with funders, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting maximising potential for further funding

· Proactively identify, engage and build new fundraising relationships with individuals, community groups, associations and schools in and around Newquay.

· Deepen engagement and grow our relationships and partnerships with existing donors and supporters.

· Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £400,000

· Establish a fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPI’s that can be tracked enabling informed projections regarding future income.

· Generate and provide regular information on fundraising activity, progress and income projections to the Newquay Food Bank leadership team.

· Work collaboratively with other Trussell food banks across Devon and Cornwall , identifying and progressing opportunities for joint funding proposals and partnerships.

· Forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network.

· Undertake any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.

· Working with Newquay foodbank colleagues recruit manage & deploy a volunteer workforce to support fundraising activities

· Adhere to all Newquay food bank policies

· Undertake any other duty as directed by Operations Manager, CEO or trustees

Specific responsibilities Communications

· Develop & implement a Communications strategy to improve fundraising success, fulfil our commitments to grant funders, public and private donators

and enable the public, businesses and other audiences understand and engage with the overall work of Newquay Foodbank.

· Create compelling story telling about the work of Newquay Foodbank using various social media platforms, media and printed resources

· Produce an annual impact report in digital and hardcopy

· Engage with and develop warm relationships with external media providers including radio, television and newspaper identifying opportunities to engage with the public

· Ensure Newquay Foodbank website is up to date and well presented

· Oversee design and production of printed resources such as posters, leaflets and flyers ensuring consistent messaging and use of current branding

· Oversee use of and design of digital content using platforms such as Canva and Microsoft

· Working with Newquay Foodbank colleagues manage & deploy a volunteer workforce to support Communications

· Adhere to all Newquay food bank policies

· Undertake any other duty as directed by Operations Manager, CEO or trustees

 

Person Specification

· Passionate about addressing poverty and social inequality able to demonstrate empathy for people from disadvantaged, marginalised or socially excluded backgrounds

· Respectful, compassionate, inclusive and committed to upholding the values of Newquay Foodbank

· Established experience of fundraising success with individuals, businesses and community fundraising.

· Established experience of trusts and foundations fundraising including corporate partnerships fundraising.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to inspire and motivate existing and prospective supporters

· Experience of setting, managing and reporting against KPI’s.

· Tenacious ,well organised, proactive, a self-starter who is self-motivated with an ability to work independently with minimum supervision .

· Experience of managing others and/or working with volunteers including effective delegation

· Calm and adaptable in a fast-moving or changing environment

· Willingness to work flexibly to support organisational priorities (some weekend and evening work will be required)

· Excellent IT skills and confident user of digital platforms

· Capable of recording ,collating & evaluating information and analysing and interpreting statistical data and using this to support Newquay Food bank work

· Car driver with access to own vehicle

· Desirable

· Experience of collaboratively working with voluntary and public sector agencies

· Understanding of the Newquay landscape in terms of potential funding opportunities

· Understanding of the work of foodbanks and ending hunger in the UK

· Understanding of the demographics of those using the foodbank

· Understanding of the charity commission legislation for charity fundraising & communications
