Newquay Towan Blystra Lions agreed to donate £500 for shopping to Newquay Foodbank but this offer came with an attractive bonus to the foodbank as the Lions Club president and secretary came along and actually did the shopping and delivered it.
Lion president, Jill Bunt and husband, Phil, joined Newquay Foodbank’s Louise Houlton at Bookers and Asda to fill the charity’s van with supplies which they all then delivered to the bases at St Michael’s and St Columb Minor Churches.
Lion Jill said, “It’s actually a lot more strenuous than you think and I’m glad Phil and I were there to give Louise a hand. The regular shoppers for the foodbank deserve appreciation for the work they do on a regular basis. I’m delighted our club could play a small part in helping another of our much needed groups which support our town and its residents.”
