Newquay Foodbank receives £1,000 donation

After taking a two year break due to Covid, in 2022 the St Mawgan Steam and Vintage Rally returned and it was bigger and better than ever. This family focused event really does have something for everyone and there were an incredible array of machines on display, from vintage motorcycles to tanks, plus everybody’s favorite… tractors! It’s a petrol-heads (we mean steam-heads!) paradise, sure to excite young and old alike.

It’s not just awesome vintage vehicles on display, there’s everything from dog shows to Wild West shootouts going on; and there’s plenty of locally sourced food and drink to enjoy too. Next year the event is taking place on the 16th and 17th of September, follow the Facebook page to stay up-to-date.

As well as being a lot of fun this event also raises some serious money for local charities. In fact, 2022 saw a record of over £20,000 raised, which was shared between a number of fantastic local charities, including the Newquay Foodbank. We were incredibly grateful to receive a donation of £1,000 which is being used to pay for our storage facilities.

One of the Rally’s organizers, Steve Buckingham, had this to say:

Getting the rally going again was a big challenge but well worth the effort. We’re conscious that whilst the Rally is largely about families and vintage enthusiasts having fun, there will be lots of people out there struggling at the moment. That’s why we think it’s so important that this money goes back into the community, to help those who need it most. The Newquay Foodbank does a fantastic job and we’re proud to support them.”
